Gittesden: 28-29 July 2018

The aim was for one or two hardy souls to arrive on Thursday 27th July, so there would be somebody
to open the gate early on Friday for delivery of that most important facility, the Git Turdis!

However... when the supplier started phoning Gits on Thursday morning, to say they were already there...
It caused some annoyance, to say the least - supposed to be 9-10 Friday

David P was first on site at 2:30pm, took in the Turdis at 3:00pm, and followed by Keith around 5:00pm

Alan O and Anne had a trying time of their journey from Redhill... Let's just say that petrol & diesel don't mix!
They finally got on site 9:00pm after several mishaps & detours

Friday - Dicky finally rolled up around tea-time complete with Git Paddling Ool (no P in our pool)
(much to Electric Arfur's relief, as he was waiting to unburden himself of 20 litres of water)

Arfur also brought along a lovely new Git Toy - a solar fountain for our Ool - THANK YOU ARFUR!

Dicky brought a very belated "caravan warming" present for Keith - who viewed it with grave suspicion...

Friday evening meal was a delicious liver & bacon casserole provided by David P, complete with Jersey Royals from a friend's garden

See those purple scaffolding planks on the ground - can you guess what it is yet?

It was better entertainment than the Chuckle Brothers!

Friday night went quietly until 04:20am when the heavens opened, and there was a scramble to batten down hatches

Saturday was squally & showery, with occasional bright intervals, when we managed the group photo for our friends in Dieppe,

and Dicky managed to fly his butterfly briefly in tribute to Kelvin W and Ron D.

David Thompson turned up, laden with lemonade & tonic, after a message from Arfur - sincere thanks to both!

Saturday tea-time, Dicky got nervous about the dire weather forecast, and he scarpered back to Wareham
where the weather turned out to be even worse than at Cliddesden!
